We begin our Tour in Via
Veneto, one of the most famous and elegant streets of the world, just
like the Champs d’Elysees in Paris or Fifth Avenue in New York. It is here
that in the sixties the great film director Federico Fellini immortalized
in the film "La Dolce Vita" international high society, still present today
among the exclusive Cafés and Hotels frequented by film stars and
indiscreet photographers (the famous "paparazzi). Along the way we can
shop in fancy stores and visit the ancient ossarium of the Cappuccini Friars
in the church of Santa Maria della Concezione. At the end
of the long descent the street opens into Piazza Barberini. |

In the centre of the square we find one of the most beautiful
fountains of Rome – Fontana del Tritone. An incredible masterpiece
of Bernini showing Neptune held high by his dolphins. In
the nearby Via delle Quattro Fontane stands Palazzo Barberini,
one of the most important examples of Roman baroque done by Bernini and
Borromini, where the National Gallery of Ancient Art, containing
important works like the well known "Fornarina" of Raffaello,
is situated. |

Coming down Via del Tritone we stop
at Planet Hollywood for a moment of relax and a coffee. While going
through characteristic narrow lanes all of a sudden appears, in all its
marble beauty, the masterpiece of Nicolò Salvi – Fontana di Trevi.
Here, with the image of Anita Eckeberg in the middle of the fountain between
Neptune and the two Tritons, the Dolce Vita held its triumph. It’s tradition
to throw a coin backwards into the fountain to ensure a return to Rome. |

After crossing Via del Corso we reach Piazza
Colonna with the column erected by the Senate of Rome in memory of
the Emperor Marco Aurelio. The Italian Prime Minister’s offices are situated
on one side of the square.

We pass alongside Palazzo di Montecitorio,
centre of the Italian Parliament, to reach the Pantheon, one of
the best conserved monuments of Rome. Built by Marco Agrippa, inside are
the tombs of Raffaello and some of the Monarchs of Italy. We end the Tour
in one of the traditional restaurants around the monument.
